All About Teas
I must say that I’ve grown quite fond of teas. Coffee is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but there’s something invigorating and refreshing about tea. There’s something about its delicate loose leaves, a cute tea set, and the comforting warm water. It’s calming, beneficial, therapeutic and healthy in so many ways. Eastern countries drink tea after every meal; America is starting to catch on but I think they’re a little confused on how or what kind of tea to pick. Coffee and tea houses are jumping into the dieting fads as well. Teas are very beneficial but without that Lb. of sugar. Let me shed some light on some teas that are waiting to be discovered.
Most of us have heard of the Chai tea. It’s a non- herbal black tea full of spices and bold flavor. It can be served hot or cold, even as a latte. I personally love my Chai Tea with a splash of vanilla soy milk, ginger and some honey. It’s to die for! It’s a black tea so it does have some natural caffeine but not as potent as coffee. The cinnamon in the tea acts as a stimulant, the ginger can help a sore throat, the cloves promote circulation of the blood, and cardamom helps indigestion and calms the consumer. For those who don’t like the lightness of a tea then Chai and bold black teas would work for you. Non-herbal teas are made from the leaves of the tea plants. The longer the leaves were fermented the more caffeine the tea may contain.
Herbal teas are found to be a lot of times infused with fruit. They are herbal so they usually are caffeine free unless something is added to it. Herbal teas are made from berries, flowers, seeds, and leaves of a variety of plants not only tea plants. Raspberry tea is said to help with balancing a women’s cycles and hormones. It decreases nausea, increases milk production when lactating and promotes uterine health. Lipton raspberry tea does not count. It’s not real herbal tea, it’s an artificial tea. The more natural, the better! The less sugar the better. Use honey instead of sugar and try to wean yourself off the sugar completely. You have to reprogram your taste buds on how to taste again. You will taste the difference in the leaves I promise. You will appreciate the tea so much better.
