Detox Diets

With all the different diet fads who knows which one is right? The answer is none. Diets like Atkins, South Beach diet, Hollywood juice diet, and Alli are what we call fad diets. I’m not saying that they don’t work because they do when you do them correctly. The problem is that the dieters don’t understand how it works and how to keep it working. They lose weight and gain it all back immediately after finishing the diet. It creates a yo-yo effect and makes your metabolism unstable. Today’s society likes fast results. They want to lose 20 lbs in 2 days which is impossible. Everyone wants to be at a healthy weight but losing weight is more than just dieting. It understands the way your own individual body works and what you need to keep it running healthily. Instead of dieting why don’t you just adopt a healthy lifestyle? The first step is to understand the dos and don’ts of a healthy diet.

Oprah did a 21 day cleanse. She eliminated sugar, caffeine, meat, dairy and gluten. In other words she went vegan for 21 days. I myself am vegan and will never look back! It was the best change in my diet that I could’ve ever made. My body is functioning correctly, I sweat more, I have regulated bowel movements, and I have more energy than before without a bloated feeling after I eat. Your body will react like someone going through withdrawals over an addiction. You can get headaches, stomach aches, and irregular bowel movements. After the first or second week it gets easier. Your body eliminates toxins from all the junk you’ve been eating. The mistake that most people do after they cleanse or go through a detoxification is they revert back to old habits. A detox is meant to clean and reprogram your body. There is no point in doing it if you go back to the way you used to eat. Clean your body and keep it clean. This detox is also know as the “Daniel’s Fast”. It was names after Daniel, a character in the Holy Bible.

On the Daniel’s fast you eliminate all processed foods, added sugars, preservatives, caffeine, alcohol, gluten, meat, and dairy. The only salt you can use is sea salt. You may also use vinegar for dressings on salads. You can eat all vegetables and fruit. If it comes from the ground you can eat it. It’s hard in the beginning because it’s somewhat inconvenient but once you master it you will see the difference in your body and the way you view the world and their eating habits. You will think clear, and more alert. You will also be motivated. Toxins in our body make us feel fatigued.

After the detox you can introduce other foods like meat again but be more conscious of the way that you’re eating it. Sugar or caffeine shouldn’t be reintroduced. Instead use natural sugars and caffeine that comes from fruit. Drink a lot of water! Juicers are a wonderful investment. There is no limit to the kind of juices you can create. Aloe Vera is a great juice to help you get vitamin B12. The only vegetarian source that is rich in vitamin B12. Don’t make it another fad diet. Follow through with it and stick to the healthy habits. Be health conscious and don’t revert to bad eating.
