It’s All About Calories

We are living in a calorie conscious country. Everyone in one way or another is counting calories. They all caught on that losing calories means losing weight. The one piece of information that they missed is that it’s not all about the calories. It’s about the calories we’re burning instead. The average person supposed to consume at least 2,000 calories a day. Throughout the day we are burning calories and we eat to refuel. We need calories for energy. When people are trying to lose weight they either do these two things. They starve their bodies from a correct calorie intake making there body kick into survival mode which then slows down your metabolism. The second thing is they eat the correct amount but don’t exercise to burn calories.

How many calories do each person supposed to consume? You can take your current weight and multiply it by ten. That is what you need to consume to function daily. 3,500 calories equals one pound. If you want to lose weight you have to take your target weight and multiply by ten. For example if I weigh 130 it’s 1300 calories daily. If want to weigh 120 then I have to cut my caloric intake by 100 calories daily but the best way to cut the calorie consumption is by working out. Burn the calories instead of depriving your body of energy. One hour of walking burns 280 calories. If I burn 280 daily for 5 days a week, then I can lose up to a lb in 2 weeks. That’s a little too slow for me. Since I’m active I would need a more strenuous exercise. Running or skipping rope burns 700 calories in one hour! I would burn a pound a week if I ran 5 days a week for an hour. I can lose up to 2 pounds a week if I lower my calorie intake and run. Just remember to do the calculations in a realistic manner. It’s unhealthy and even dangerous to lose more than 2 pounds a week.

Eating more fruits and vegetables will help keep you full on fewer calories. Fiber is another trick to keep you full longer. You can have a huge bowl of salad and steamed veggies with a very low calorie count. It will keep you hydrated with all the water from the fruits and veggies and it will also keep your calories to a minimum. You can also eat more often which gives you constant energy through out the day. You can eat vegetables and legumes through out the day and feast with out going over your calorie limit. Then there’s 1 meal of steak, mash and veggies which will most likely hold most of your calories for the day all in one sitting. It will leave you feeling heavy tired and worst yet hungry because you received all of your calories for the day. If you eat then you gain weight. It’s easy and straight forward. No way around justifying it. If you want to lose weight you have to be disciplined. There’s no easy way around it.
