The Right Amount Of Vitamins And Anti-Oxidants

You may hear about antioxidants in ads and commercials but what are they exactly and why is it considered so “healthy”. Vitamins are said to be crucial to our health. America loves its vitamins but I don’t think they know exactly how vitamins work. Studies shows different results overtime and scientists are all agreeing that vitamin supplements are harmful.

It’s very hard to understand our bodies and its reactions to nutrition. In today’s present time we are bombarded with disease like cancers and don’t know why it’s so common. Free radicals are a natural occurring reaction in our body. Antioxidants act as a “rust protector” for the body, preventing a process called oxidation. Molecules in the body become oxidized when they lose an electron. Once the molecule is oxidized, they become unstable and easily break apart. Anti-oxidants stop that whole process from happening. Whether you want to accept it or not our bodies will always use bad for good and vise versa. It’s called balance. If we get rid of the bad completely then a side effect will kick in as nature’s way of “balancing”. They found studies that vitamin E supplements will help coronary artery disease but increased a risk for heart disease. Vitamins keep us balanced with natural antioxidants. With the right dosage it keeps us healthy. If you read the label of your vitamins you will notice that the dosage says 200-300% daily value. That is an extremely high dosage. When you eat a complete and healthy diet you will receive all of your vitamins in the correct dosage.

Vitamins are meant to be absorbed through our food. Scientists have been trying to find a way to make it easier to get all your vitamins but as soon as they think they figured it out, results will throw their conclusions off. So if the scientists are confused why are we still taking the vitamins that they say may be doing us more harm than good? We are a society that believes in the magic pill. Since the beginning, man has been trying to find a miracle cure. Salesmen were known to fill containers with “miracle pills”. They were actually sugar pills. People have such a strong faith that they make themselves believe that the pill actually worked. The same idea applies to vitamin supplements. Taking a pill everyday is not going to make up for a poor diet and against genetics. If something runs in your family then it’s common sense you have to take extra care of yourself in those areas. Eat well, exercise and drink water. Read about different products that are put in food that may increase your chance of the diseases and make sure you keep yourself healthy. You have the power to break your genetic code but you have to take care of yourself.

There is no easy way to do it, especially just by taking a pill. If that was the case then there wouldn’t be anymore diseases or cancers because everyone has been taking their vitamins. Studies are able to show that vitamins lower risk for cancer and disease but not from supplements. The problem is that no one wants to stop drinking, smoking, and other bad habits. No one wants to eat healthy and exercise they just want surgeries to fix their problem or better yet just take a pill. That’s not realistic is it?
